A house on
the river.
In the city.
Skibo House is a boutique vacation home sitting directly on the Chattahoochee — one of only three trout rivers in the world that flows through a city of more than a million people. Wake up to moving water. Walk out to 48 miles of National Recreation Area trails. Drive 25 minutes to Downtown Atlanta if you feel like it.
"The Hooch has a way of making everything feel far away."
Not a hotel.
Not quite a cabin.
Something better.
Most Atlanta visitors never find the Chattahoochee. They stay in Midtown, walk the BeltLine, eat well, and fly home. They miss the part that makes Atlanta genuinely unusual — a National Recreation Area running right through a major American city. Skibo House puts you right at the edge of it.
On the river
Not near the river. Not a river view from the third floor. On it. The Chattahoochee is audible from every room and visible from the back of the property.
Feels lived-in
Real furniture. A real kitchen. A porch built for sitting on. Skibo House is set up for actual stays — not one-night stops with a sad coffee maker and a parking garage.
Atlanta within reach
25 minutes to Downtown. 20 to Buckhead. 15 to Roswell's Canton Street. All the city access, none of the city noise. You decide how much Atlanta you want.
A river with
real history.
The name "Chattahoochee" comes from the Creek Indian words meaning "marked rocks" — a reference to the river's famous painted shoals where Native Americans lived and traded for thousands of years before Atlanta existed.
In 1864, General Sherman's army crossed the Chattahoochee just north of Atlanta — a pivotal moment in the Civil War's Western Theater. The river served as a natural defensive line before Union forces found a way across and marched on the city.
Today, the National Park Service manages 48 miles of the river corridor — 16 separate park units protecting the wildlife, trails, and water quality that make the Hooch one of Atlanta's best-kept secrets.
What you'll

Skibo House is for
everyone, really.
Families
Room to spread out, a kitchen to actually cook in, and the Chattahoochee Nature Center 10 minutes away. Kids who come here tend to ask to come back.
Couples
River sounds at night. Coffee on the porch in the morning. No alarm clock required. Skibo House is quiet in a way that Atlanta rarely offers.
Friend groups
Kayak the Hooch in the morning, order pizza and play games at night. A shared space near water has a way of bringing people back to themselves.
